10 Jul, 2011

Federal Minister for Law Moula Bakhsh Chandio has said that the restoration of commissionerate system is a part of the manifesto of Pakistan Peoples Party and the same is being restored in Sindh like other provinces of the country. The restoration of commissionerate system had been delayed in Sindh due to consultation with other allies of the provincial government.
The Minister said while talking to media persons after meeting with President Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan Sahibzada Dr Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair here at his residence on Saturday afternoon. The minister accompanied by President PPP Women Wing Sindh Shagufta Jummani, Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari and Central Co-ordinator PPP Youth Wing Aajiz Dhamra said that PPP believed that the nazim system of the Local Government, which was introduced during General Musharraf's (Retd) regime is in conflict with the Constitution and provincial autonomy, therefore amendments are necessary to make the Local Government System viable and provide benefits to the masses.
He said that progress and prosperity of the country fully depended on continuation of democratic system as well as promoting positive criticism instead of destabilising an elected government.
Those who did not resist the ten years long dictatorial regime, are now demanding the holding of fresh or mid-term elections just after three years of the present elected government of PPP, the minister said. He added that PPP leaders and workers have no fear of such demands of political alliance as since the government of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the party leaders and workers have successfully faced and foiled such political alliances with the co-operation of people of the country.
The minister said that Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is trying to derail the democratic system of the country but he would not gain fruits in his efforts. Responding to a question about Karachi situation, the minister said that maintaining law and order is the responsibility of all and there is need of due role by all political and religious parties of the country.
