The authorities had restricted the telecast of news on cable channels of the Held Kashmir valley during last year's summer uprising but even after improvement in the situation, the ban had not been revoked yet.
The people associated with the cable channels have been questioning the double standards of the authorities for not imposing such ban in Jammu but their pleas are falling on deaf ears, Kashmir Media Service reported.
"Law is the same for both regions, If the local cable channels are working in Jammu, why not in Kashmir as the situation is normal and peaceful now," said President of Kashmir Broadcasters Association (KBA), Mir Amjid. The KBA President said that the recent statement of the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah that the administration would not allow local cable channels to broadcast news had disappointed the Association.
