'Mr Abscondyar Wali!'

11 Jul, 2011

According to Transparency International (TI) Pakistan, the most corrupt provincial government in the country is that of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Asfandyar Wali is a member of the National Assembly, which he hardly attends. He shows up in the country, once a quarter, makes a public statement and disappears for months.
One would like to know how many times Wali has attended the National Assembly sessions during the last 3 years, how many times he has addressed the house, what is his contribution to frame legislation, resolution of tabled issues, his role and obligations, as an elected parliamentarian?
Most of the time, an absentee legislator, Asfandyar Wali is not available in his constituency, surreptitiously missing from National Assembly sessions, his province and Pakistan. It is therefore, sincerely suggested that he should, appropriately, change his name from Asfandyar Wali to 'Abscondyar Wali' for staying perpetually in absentia!
