12 Jul, 2011

Lahore High Court here Monday sought reply from the federal government by July 13 in an application praying to sentence General Pervez Musharraf (retired) under high treason act 1973. The petitioner, Rana Ilamuddin Ghazi, contended that a Supreme Court bench had convicted him for subverting the constitution.
He pleaded that it is self-evident and only sentence is to be announced on him in accordance with section 2 of high treason act 1973. He further said the case of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto is an example that high court has the power to try and punish a high state dignitary in a high profile case.
