Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry here Monday sought reply from federal government by August 12 in the suo motu proceedings against the incarceration of two Indian women in Kot Lakhpat jail. Earlier, a law officer informed the court that two Indian women were arrested in the trafficking of one-kilogram heroin and were convicted for one and a half-year sentence each.
He said their jail term has expired and their case has been sent to the review board of federal government. He pointed out that foreign prisoners are released only after respective embassies identified their nationals. So, their case has been referred to the review board. At this, the CJ sought reply from the federal government and adjourned proceedings till next date of hearing.
