Punjab Industrial Estates has decided to set up two power plants having capacity of 50 MW each at Sundar and Bhalwal Industrial Estates in Lahore and Bhalwal districts during the current fiscal year. It was decided in a meeting of Board of Directors of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) held with PIEDMC Chairman S.M. Tanveer recently.
The meeting said that Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif was making untiring efforts to maintain uninterrupted power supply and also trying to build more power units in order to provide electricity and energy to the people of Punjab and its industrial and commercial consumers.
Tanveer said that more power projects in two industrial estates have been envisaged in line with the vision of Chief Minister of Punjab. The preliminary work to set up these two power units has been completed and land has already been earmarked at both the industrial estates. The meeting discussed different options like coal, thermal, solar and gas. The meeting also decided that first ever coal fired power unit will be set up at Bhalwal at any industrial unit.
