The Lahore High Court here Monday sought a reply from Home Secretary Punjab by July 13 after Inspector General of Police informed the court that giving jobs to heirs of cops, killed in GPO Chowk blast, was responsibility of Lahore CCPO. The court expressed his displeasure over the reply and directed the home secretary to explain whether the IGP was not authorised to give jobs.
The petitioner Muhammad Akram Butt said that Punjab IGP had announced to give jobs to family members of those police officials who lost their lives in suicide blast at GPO Chowk in January 2008. The petitioner pleaded that neither the jobs were provided nor any financial help was extended to the deceased families by the government. He prayed to the court to direct the IGP to give jobs to the heirs of the cops who were killed in the blast.
