A strong monsoon system will penetrate into the monsoon belt of Pakistan after 15th July, causing moderate to isolated heavy rainfall/thundershower in Punjab, Kashmir, GB, and KPK, at a few places in north-east Balochistan and at one or two places in Sindh, Met Office said here on Monday.
It said mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country during next three days. However, isolated thunderstorm/rain may occur over Hazara, Kalat divisions, Kashmir, south & north-east Punjab Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and hilly areas of KPK. In its 10-day weather advisory for farmers (11th July to 20th July 2011), Met Office said that temperature may remain unchanged in most of the agricultural plains of the country during the decade. Maximum temperature may rise above 450C in the agricultural plains of upper Sindh, southern and central Punjab, central and southern Balochistan except coastal belt. Gusty winds may prevail occasionally in the monsoon belt and adjoining areas in the upper half of the country during the decade.
Farmers were advised to irrigate the crops according to latest updates of Pakistan Meteorological Department. Irrigation practice may be delayed in the areas where monsoon rains are occurring frequently. Farmers of the cotton-belt were further advised to stop irrigation practices due to predicted monsoon rains during the decade.
