Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Senior Federal Minister for Industries received a detailed briefing from the Ministry of Industries and Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan regarding 'Ramazan Package'. Expressing his views, Elahi directed the officials of the Ministry and USC to extend subsidy on maximum items of basic necessity so that the low-income people can be given relief in the holy month.
He said the demand for essential commodities like wheat flour, sugar, pulses, baisen, dates, tea, squashes, 'sharbat' and milk generally increases each year. However, Ramzan Relief Package will provide the much-needed economic relief to the consumers, as well as help stabilise the prices in the open market.
He directed the USC management to make sure that during Ramazan its stores stay open for shopping for extended hours so that the more and more people may reap the benefits of the said package. He announced that to see the preparedness of the USC, he will soon meet the zonal managers of USC and will not tolerate any negligence in efficiently conducting the operations. He said that to ensure that the price list issued by USC headquarters is strictly adhered to by all the utility stores in the country, strict vigilance will be carried out. He himself will hold regular meetings with the officials of USC and Ministry of Industries to oversee smooth dispensation of Ramzan Package.-PR
