Mobilink constructs homes for flood victims

12 Jul, 2011

Mobilink, Pakistan's market leader in cellular services and a part of Orascom Telecom Holding has marked the completion of the first phase of model homes in Rohailan Wali, Muzzaffargarh as part of its continued effort to provide relief and rehabilitation to flood-affected persons.
The Mobilink Foundation has always been at the forefront to help the nation in critical times. The philosophy of Mobilink's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goes beyond philanthropy and donations. Mobilink is constructing over 60 homes across Pakistan through the Mobilink Foundation.
Mobilink's Director of Public Relations and CSR, Omar Manzur, said: "Our aim is to ensure that these new homes will prove to be a secure and comfortable residence for the deserving families. The structural designs of these homes follow the guidelines of 'Provincial Disaster Management Authority' and the beneficiaries have been selected on the basis of vulnerability after conducting a thorough field study under the supervision of the local DCOs. Giving back to the community is a core value at Mobilink, with a commitment to continue making concerted efforts to provide relief to the underprivileged!"
Each home consists of one bedroom, rest room and a kitchen, with one-foot high reinforced plinth and sturdy concrete pillars to support the structures and enhance flood-resistance. A team of Mobilink volunteers personally met the home owners and spent time with the local community and distributed gifts amongst the children. In coming weeks, Mobilink will be completing houses in the region of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh, which will be handed over to the deserving families with the co-ordination of local PDMA and DCOs. Mobilink is consistently fulfilling its commitment to rehabilitate the victims of the 2010 flood disaster.-PR
