The New Zealand dollar rose to a six-month high versus the euro on Monday while the Australian dollar held near two-month peaks, but both Antipodean currencies slipped on the greenback as concerns about Europe's debt crisis hit risk appetite. The euro fell to a six-month low around NZ$1.6970. Against the Aussie, it languished near a two-month trough of A$1.3220.
The New Zealand dollar retreated to $0.8343 from Friday's peak of $0.8400, its highest since 1981 when the exchange rate was managed. The kiwi, which has risen about 7 percent so far this year, was seen supported at $0.8324, with $0.8400 as resistance. The Aussie dollar shed about half a US cent from late in New York on Friday to last stand at $1.0714.
