In the wake of changing political scenario, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the party leadership to complete the reorganisation process by last week of July, as PML-N is set to announce future strategy on July 27.
According to PML-N media office, Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired the consultative session of the general council and asked the PML-N leadership that the general council meeting on July 27 would complete the process of reorganisation. The meeting, which was attended by Senator Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Pervaiz Rasheed, Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Ahsan Iqbal and Sartaj Aziz, reviewed arrangements of the July 27 meeting.
Insiders said PML-N could unanimously elect Nawaz Sharif as party's next president. The July 27 meeting besides taking other important decisions would also approve the future strategy. It was decided in the Tuesday meeting that the members of the general council would be given briefing on the problems being faced by the countrymen. Senator Ishaq Dar would brief the party leadership on the country's economy and suggest steps to overcome challenges.
Ahsan Iqbal would brief the general council on the good governance and would also highlight the alleged corruption in the government institutions, whereas former foreign minister Sartaj Aziz would brief the meeting on the country's foreign policy and security challenges. The meeting also decided that leaders representing public opinion, civil society organisations and scholars would also be invited to participate in the meeting as observers.
