Gas shortage: Pakistan Steel designs alternative plan

14 Jul, 2011

Pakistan Steel Mills Corporation has designed an alternative plan to continue production, after a written intimation by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for the short supply of gas. The SSGC letter conveyed the gas utility that due to annual maintenance work and shutdown at Kadanwari Gasfield, the company may not provide sufficient gas to its customers.
Pakistan Steel has made a new plan to continue its production during the period of shortage. Pakistan Steel utilising its own resources also made some necessary repair works on its thermal power plant through PSM engineers and experienced workers. Currently, PSM thermal power plant is generating sufficient electricity for sustaining the production activity according to the plan. It has also been noted that PSM sells its electricity to KESC and depending on the need, also uses power from KESC.
