Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Multan observed the protest day on Thursday against Wednesday's statement of PPP leader and Sindh's Senior Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, scores of activists of MQM staged a demonstration at Chowk Ghanta Ghar on Thursday.
All the participants were carrying flags, banners, portraits of Altaf Hussain and placards inscribed with slogans against PPP government early yesterday, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza issued a controversial statement against MQM chief and called Afaq Ahmad of MQM-H real leader of Urdu speaking community.
Showing extreme annoyance and displeasure, MQM leaders, workers and people rebuked Mirza's statement harshly while violent protests started in all major cities of the South Punjab including, Multan and expressed anger. They said that innocent peace-loving people were being killed in Karachi and present regime failed to protect the life and property of the masses. However they remained peaceful.
The lawbreakers ruling the largest metropolis of Karachi gunned down over sixty-five people in three days while the number of dead is feared to rise as scores were injured. Reacting over indiscriminate killing of the people, Muttahida Movement leaders said that we organised a rally from New Multan to Chowk Ghanta Ghar and we have also invited other political and religious parties to join hands against the act of terror in Karachi but no party turned up.
It is not the government and law enforcement agencies alone who failed to maintain law and order and protect the life, honour and property of the people but the political parties have also failed to restore peace for cause of the human values in Karachi. MQM leader Shaikh Karamat Ali said it is an alarming situation not only for the people of Karachi but the shockwaves of this extreme law and order situation is feared to hit other parts of the country if the current anarchic like situation was not brought under control and whosoever involved in this gory drama was not dealt with iron hand and brought to the book, he added.
The hair raising gory incidents of cold blooded killing of the citizens include the indiscriminate firing on commuters travelling in public transport. Passengers of three buses were sprayed to death at three places in Karachi and at least ten people were killed in a single incident of firing at the passengers of a bus in northern part of the city.
