WEDNESDAY JULY 13: Liepach assumes charge as ADB country director

ISLAMABAD: Dr Werner Liepach has assumed the office of the Country Director at the Asian Development Bank's Pakistan Resident Mission here on Tuesday. Prior to taking up the new assignment, he was working as Deputy Director General of the Central West Asia Regional Department (CWRD) since 2009, said a statement issued by the ADB. Werner Liepach has a rich experience in strategic planning, management and project implementation.
Dr Liepach joined ADB in 1992 and has worked in various departments, including budget, planning, country programme and financial sector operations. In 1998, he became a Senior Financial Sector Specialist responsible for trade, finance and capital market development in the region including Pakistan.
He joined the Office of Co-financing Operations (OCO) as Director in 2003. OCO is responsible for resource mobilisation and syndication's with commercial and official financial institutions to complement ADB's own financing commitment for specific projects. He eventually led OCO as Principal Director from 2005.
