Pak-Malaysia Joint Committee on Defence Co-operation (JCDC) was held here on Monday. According to reports from Kaula Lumpur, Pakistan side was led by Secretary Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant-General Syed Athar Ali(Retd) while Dato' Sri Dr Haji Ismail bin Haji Ahmad, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence headed the Malaysian delegation.
Two parallel meetings of Malaysian-Pakistan sub committee for Military Co-operation and Malaysia-Pakistan Sub-Committee on Defence Services, Technology and Industry Co-operation were also held.
In this 9th meeting of Pak-Malaysia Joint Committee on Defence Co-operation, both sides reviewed the progress in bilateral defence co-operation and agreed that there was further scope for its expansion in mutually identified fields and some new ideas were explored in this regard. In his opening remarks, Lieutenant-General Syed Athar Ali (Retd) stated that Pakistan and Malaysia enjoying close and co-operative relations with each other at international fora. The co-operation between the armed forces of Malaysia and Pakistan is longstanding and entails exchanges, participation in exercises and training programmes, which are to the mutual advantage of both sides.
