Austrian city strips Hitler of honours

The city of Klagenfurt has joined other Austrian communities that have stripped Adolf Hitler of honorary citizenship. The municipal council of the country's sixth-largest city voted unanimously Tuesday to revoke the honour accorded to the Nazi dictator 73 years ago. Several Austrian towns have in recent months nullified honorary citizenship's given to Hitler, including Braunau, his birthplace.
But Klagenfurt is the biggest among them. The capital of southern Carinthia province has a population of nearly 100,000. City fathers had named Hitler an honorary citizen in April 1938 _ a month after German troops annexed Austria.
