A leader in Indian-occupied Kashmir says the man arrested in the US on suspicion of being a Pakistan agent is a victim of a diplomatic conspiracy. The US accuses Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai of the Kashmiri American Council of being an unregistered agent of a foreign government.
The US Justice Department says he donated millions to a Washington nonprofit in a secret lobbying effort led by Pakistani intelligence.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani said Wednesday the allegations are the ``result of India's diplomatic efforts and conspiratorial plans.' Geelani says Fai's 32-year commitment to Kashmiri self-determination made him ``an eyesore of India' and called for Kashmiris to protest Friday.
