The Sanitation Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday established a camp make citizens aware of the cleanliness as part of its anti-littering campaign in the capital. Hundreds of citizens visited the camp established at G-9 Markaz and registered their complaints regarding sewerage and other matters, Director Sanitation, Captain (Retd) Faiz Muhammad told APP.
The Director, who was personally supervising the camp said such camps have already been arranged in other areas of the capital including Islamabad Highway, Murree Road, Kashmir Highway and F-6 Markaz where Authority's staff disseminated information and awareness literature to the citizens.
He said around 200 CDA staff at G-9 Markaz camp has distributed pamphlets and other printed material door to door in around 3600 flats and houses and would extend this practice in other areas as well.
Director Sanitation said in addition to distributing pamphlets and message of Authority's Chairman, the cleanliness messages are also being conveyed to residents through large LCDs fixed in different sectors.
Answering a question, he said the sanitation department is focusing on the small sectors as per direction of CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi and would soon establish a camp in I-10 Markaz and the process would remain continue.
Captain Faiz said as part of the drive, the vehicles of sanitation department have been painted with different slogans and are projecting the cause through loud speakers. At the camp CDA staff briefs the citizens about the cleanliness, registers complaints and forwards them to the concerned departments, he added. The Director further informed that the other Departments such as Sanitation, DMA and Enforcement have been asked to join hands so as to make the drive more successful and result-oriented.
Replying to another question, he said the drive is running with full swing with positive response from citizens and would definitely help make the Capital neat and pollution-free city. Giving further information, he said the anti-litter force in uniform has been deployed in different Marakiz of the capital, adding that this campaign has now been extended to parks and other recreational facilities where workers of the force distribute pamphlets, containing information on anti-littering and cleanliness and motivate residents to pay their due share for the noble cause.
