LRMAIS an excellent public service project: chief minister Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Land Record Management and Information System (LRMAIS) is an excellent public service project due to which people will not only get rid of corrupt mafia but it will create conveniences in transfer of properties and getting 'fards'.
He directed that all possible steps should be taken for early completion of this project and a committee headed by the Punjab Chief Secretary should review progress of this project every month regularly and if there is any hurdle that should be removed immediately.
He was presiding over a meeting held with regard to review the progress of Project of Land Record Computerisation here on Friday, disclosed an official. The Punjab Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Finance, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, Information Technology experts and concerned officers attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the CM said they are marching forward speedily for early completion of the public welfare project of land record computerisation. He said the masses would get great relief with the completion of this project and the forgeries regarding registration and transfer of properties would be eliminated. "The operational staff for Land Record Computerisation Project should be recruited through Punjab Public Service Commission and deputed for this project after training, and recommendations should be formulated for this purpose. There should be no role of patwari and tehsildar in this important project," he added.
He said after completion of the land record computerisation project, the old, complicated and lethargic system of transfer of land and 'fard' will be eliminated and the process of transfer of properties will also be transparent. He said he should be informed within seven days about the timeframe regarding completion of this project in Lahore, Hafizabad, Lodhran and Kasur in the first phase whereas pace of work in other districts be also accelerated.
Rejecting the proposed increase in the fee of transfer of properties and getting 'fard', he said people should be provided high quality services first and after that this matter will be considered.
Earlier, Project Director Land Record Management and Information System, Irfan Ellahi, during a briefing regarding the progress of the project, said work on the project is going on round the clock and all efforts are being made for its early completion. He said the project of land record computerisation is very transparent and the land record of which has been computerised can be seen on the website. The software for the project has been approved and the work on the project in three tehsils of Lahore has been started.
