High court lawyer among 10 shot dead

There was no letup in the targeted killings as ten more persons including an advocate of High Court were killed in separate incidents at various places, here on Saturday. According to police, an advocate of High Court was shot dead near Bohrapir Sheesha market in the limits of Eidgah police station.
They said Mukhtiar Abbas Bukhari, son of Hasnain Abbas Bukhari was attacked by armed men when he was going in his car (N-3281) at Sheesha Market Bohrapir. Mukhtiar received multiple bullets and died at Civil Hospital Karachi during treatment. Police said the victim, who was the resident of Abbas Town Gulshan Iqbal, was targeted, on way to home from court.
Meanwhile, Karachi Bar Association President Mohammad Aqil condemning the killing, announced that the KBA will observe mourning-day on Monday. He said the victim, who had been receiving threats, had submitted application to the Home Secretary; CCPO Karachi and DIG for security but to no avail. He said the victim was the father of four and his funeral procession will be taken out on Sunday after Zohr prayers at Ancholi Imam Bargah. Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen has also condemned the incident and announced mourning day on Sunday. No case was registered till filing of this report.
40-year-old Abdul Bari was gunned down at New Karachi near Bismillah Masjid in the limits of New Karachi police station. Police said the victim, who was an owner of a teashop, was targeted when he was sitting at cash counter. They said the deceased received single bullet on his head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities. Police suspected that the victim, who hailed from Quetta, might be murdered over personal enmity. Following the incident, tension engulfed at the area and all the shops were closed.
A teenager was killed in an armed clash between two groups at Juna Market in the limits of Nippier police station. Police said an armed clash between two groups at Juna Market near Bulbul Hazar Dastan left 13-year-old Bilal, alias Chando killed and Gul Rehman, 45 injured.
They said the deceased was hit by single bullet in his head while Gul sustained multiple bullets at lower torso, adding that both were shifted to CHK where Bilal died during treatment. Police said the victim received stray bullet when he was flying a kite.
Meanwhile, a group of armed men resorted to firing in air outside the CHK. Following the incident, heavy contingents of police and Rangers rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. A youth was shot dead at Hijrat Colony in the limits of Civil Line police station. The victim Khalid Mehboob, 25 son of Fazal Gujjar, a resident of Junejo Town, fell prey to targeted killing while on way to home from work near the Railway Crossing.
The body was shifted to CHK for legal formalities. Police said the victim, who was unmarried, was a salesman of foodstuff. They said the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained. All markets at several areas of old city including Bhimpura, Ranchore Line, Jama Cloth and Eidgah also remained closed due to uncertain situation.
