Rejecting the prosecution plea for extension in physical remand of PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel, the court sent the latter to Central Jail, Adiala on 14-day judicial remand, and adjourned the hearing for two weeks. The Court also turned down the argument of defence counsel regarding the agreement between the complainant and the accused, saying that the sections under which the cases were registered have no provision of out of court agreement.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday presented Anjum Aqeel before the court of Civil Judge Islamabad, Rai Liaqat Ali Kharal and demanded seven-day extension in physical remand of the accused. The court rejected the demand and sent the accused to Central Jail Adiala on 14-day judicial remand.
The FIA also presented Anjum Aqeel's medical report in the court, which stated that the MNA is suffering from heart ailment and needs proper medical care. In the wake of the medical report, the defence attorney requested the court that the accused had entered into an agreement with the complainant so the case against Aqeel should be dismissed.
The court, after hearing the arguments from both sides, dismissed the argument of defence counsel regarding agreement between the complainant and the accused, saying that the sections under which the cases were registered against the MNA have no provision of out of court agreement.
