Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anuska Sharma’s wedding has been the talk of the town for quite some while now. Now that the wedding celebrations are finally over, the cricketer is all set to focus on his professional career.
For the first time after getting married, Kohli addressed a press conference before leaving for the test series in South Africa, during which he discussed his hush-hush marriage and returning to the lead the cricket team.
On being asked how difficult will it be for him to return to cricket post the marriage celebrations, Kohli said, “Not difficult at all, I was away for something [marriage] that is much more important. That is a period which will always remain special for both of us."
"Switching back to cricket is not difficult at all because it is in my blood, like it is for every other team member and the team management as well, so getting back to professional front is not difficult at all,” Kohli said, according to Indian media.
The Indian skipper added, “I haven’t done anything in the past three weeks. I have been training to get back to play in South Africa. Somewhere in your head you are always thinking about you have something important coming up, so subconsciously you are looking forward to it [South Africa tour]. So, mentally I am very well prepared.”
After tying the knot in a hush-hush ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, and hosting two grand receptions in New Delhi and Mumbai, power couple Kohli and Sharma flew to South Africa to ring in the New Year. Virat will also prepare for the upcoming series there, in which Team India will lock horns against South African cricket team in three Test matches, six ODIs and three T20s.
