Kashmir High Court Bar Association in occupied Kashmir has re-elected noted lawyers Mian Abdul Qayoom and Ghulam Nabi Shaheen as its President and General Secretary respectively. Polling was held at the Sadder Court Complex in occupied Srinagar. Mian Abdul Qayoom got 356 votes and won by a margin of 179 votes.
His rival candidate was former Bar President, Nazir Ahmad Ronga. 536 votes out of 742 were polled. Five votes were rejected, KMS reported on Friday. For the office of vice-president, Bashir Ahmad Dar secured 163 votes while defeating his closest opponent, Muhammad Abdullah Pandit, who got 161 votes.
The other candidates for vice-president office were Muzamil Afaq Nehvi and Arshad Andrabi. They got 139 and 68 votes respectively. A total 534 votes were polled out of which three were rejected. Ghulam Nabi Shaheen got 426 and was elected as General Secretary. He defeated his opponent, Shameema Ali. Muhammad Ashraf Wani was elected as Joint Secretary defeating his rival Sofiya Mudasir. Intikhab Yousuf Parray was elected as Treasurer of the Bar.
