After recently admitting that Apple was intentionally slowing down iPhones without informing beforehand, the company faced numerous law suits from users. Realizing its mistake, Apple has officially apologized in a public letter.
In its long letter, Apple formally apologized publicly for not being open with its customers and gave out more details on how does the iOS manages battery and performance of the iPhones. “We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologize,” wrote Apple.
For the users who claimed that Apple is intentionally doing all this to gain sales, Apple wrote, “We have never — and would never — do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades. Our goal has always been to create products that our customers love and making iPhones last as long as possible is an important part of that.”

In order to decrease the created confusion, Apple also decided to offer reduced out-of-warranty battery replacement that too in a low price. Originally the battery replacement that cost $79 is now costing only $29, however, this discount will last through the end of 2018. Also, in its next year’s iOS update, the company claimed to provide users more information on their iPhone’s battery health so that they can see for themselves if its condition is affecting performance, reported Engagdet.
Moreover, Apple explained in the letter about the battery aging and in order to reduce that, the company included a feature in iOS through which power management can be improved and won’t result in unexpected shutdowns. “With the update, iOS dynamically manages the maximum performance of some system components when needed to prevent a shutdown. While these changes may go unnoticed, in some cases users may experience longer launch times for apps and other reductions in performance.”
