Nine suspects held by Islamabad police

One person died in road accident, while Capital Police rounded up nine accused for their alleged possession of illegal arms, and involvement in bootlegging and other crimes during the last 24 hours. A passer-by Muhammad Kashif was hit by a fast-driven car bearing registration number SG-497 while crossing the road at Expressway near Dhok Kala Khan in the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town Police.
The injured was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his wounds. Driver Shahzad Ismael was arrested and a case was registered under section 279 and 320 against him. Eight other persons were arrested by Islamabad police from different areas and five pistols and four bottles of liquor were recovered from them. Tarnol Police during routine checking at Jhangi Syeddan police check post arrested two persons Ashfaq-ur Rehman and Afzaal Ahmed after recovering two pistols from them. Sabzi Mandi Police during routine patrolling stopped a person Muhammad Awais at IJP Road and on search recovered one pistol (30-bore) from his possession, besides recovering one pistol (30-bore) and four bullets from accused Noor-ul-Bashar near Sabzi Mandi.
Similarly, Sabzi Mandi Police stopped a person namely Waseh Iqbal during a routine patrolling in I-10/1 and recovered one pistol (30-bore) and five bullets from his possession. Secretariat Police during checking arrested two persons Javed Masih and Shehzad Anjum after recovery of four bottles of liquor from them.
SSP Islamabad, Tahir Alam Khan has appreciated the performance of the police personnel. He directed them to further ensure strict vigilance and patrolling in their respective jurisdictions to make the city crime-free.
