Former federal law minister and a central leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, Dr Babar Awan has sought judicial action against people who had registered false cases against Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
In a press conference at Media Cell, Bilawal House on Sunday evening, he said the accountability court's decision granted in favour of Shaheed PPP leader in the fake SGS case demanded action against instigators.
These people are culprit of wasting public wealth and time, said Dr Babar Awan.
He said conspiracies hatched against current PPP government are a sequence of nefarious schemes designed against Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and the previous two governments of PPP.
The PPP leader said that misinformation was deliberately generated against the present democratic set-up.
"The elements behind the conspiracy would never succeed as masses are fully conscious of the facts," he said. Sindh Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Sharmila Farooqui and Incharge PPP Media Cell, MPA Nadeem Bhutto were also present on the occasion.
Dr Babar Awan said the Constitution of the country is absolutely clear about the jurisdiction of each of the national institutions and the limits are well defined under 1973 Constitution.
He said the National Assembly session scheduled for Monday would be business as usual as PPP believes in strengthening democracy. He said there are people who are scared of Senate elections scheduled for March and, therefore, are found claiming that Senate session holds no relevance.
They must realise that Pakistan's democratic set-up is being run under a system and PPP is committed to sustain it.
He said PPP will succeed in the forthcoming Senate election as part of its series of winning spree registered during Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan polls. In reply to a question, he said he would submit a report based on his meeting with the Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan to President Asif Ali Zardari.
