Government urged to notify doctors' promotion orders

01 Aug, 2011

Pakistan Medical Association has called for immediate issuance of notification of promotion of doctors working under the health department as assured by Sindh Secretary Health. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, PMA General Secretary, Dr Pir Manzoor Ali said that the provincial government announced in February 2011 four-tier formula for promotion of doctors.
"As per the formula more than 2,000 BPS-17 and BPS-18 doctors were to be promoted in Sindh, however, the government announced promotion of only 840," he maintained. Dr Ali alleged that though the Secretary Health was co-operating with the doctors in the matter but the bureaucracy under him was procrastinating. The PMA leader also mentioned delay in the issuance of the notification concerning the annual salary increment announced in Sindh government's budget for 2011-12.
The office-bearers of PMA Sindh including Dr Gulzar Jumani, Dr Rafique Qureshi, Dr Zafar Durrani and Dr Hamza Panhwar were also present on the occasion.
