Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Senior Minister and former chief minister of Punjab while addressing 'Meet-the-Press' at Lahore Press Club supported journalists efforts and castigating 'Qabza Group 'Mafia for creating obstacles in their colony's development.
He also inaugurated Utility Stores Corporation (USC) outlet in the club on the occasion and announced that these would be established in five press clubs in Punjab.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has already been instrumental in establishing journalist colonies at provincial level at three places Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan in Punjab. He as a politician also gave his full assistance to Punjab Union of Journalists, whenever asked. He told the journalists that he would talk at the federal level about giving soft loans to journalists to construct their houses in the colony. He said he was aware of the economic problems faced by journalists.
Senior Federal Minister disclosed that he had talked to Federal Minister Dr Asim for discretionary treatment meted out to province of Punjab in supply of gas, which he said, present leadership in Punjab had themselves been responsible as they had gavin in written in NFC Accord that gas should be first made available to the source of generation, thus binding Punjab to get the supply as enunciated in the agreement.
About recent statement of Federal Minister Rehman Malik about Tableeghi Jamaat, said that Raiwind congregation was the second largest Muslim gathering in the world. Minister said that place was spiritual and peaceful and there was no doubt about its sanctity.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on certain recent events between federal government and judiciary said that those who were involved in attack on Supreme Court of Pakistan are at present creating misunderstanding between the institutions. He said that in Muree, Sharif family has made transgress into adjacent Public Park to their residences as making it inaccessible for public. He termed it as very unfortunate anti-people step.
He said present provincial leadership was not serious in responding to social and other problems of masses as serious steps need to be taken for resolving issues of the people which present provincial leadership is devoid of and incapable.
