Former Senior Member Board of Revenue, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Reayat Khan on Sunday appealed Chief Justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take notice of alleged excesses of certain judicial officials of Peshawar High Court against him and his family.
Addressing a press conference at National Press Club, he alleged that a high judicial officer of Peshawar High Court, Dera Ismail Khan Bench, has managed to emerge as a powerful and influential person in the area. Now, he is employing all the resources including fake cases and other tactics to deprive him of his property, he alleged.
He said that he had been a senior government functionary but was involved in petty cases such as aerial firing which are pending in courts since years owing to the influence of the official. He alleged another high judicial official of Peshawar High Court is also harassing witnesses of case, filing inquiries and even showing living witnesses as dead in his reports to protect vested interest. The veteran bureaucrat also alleged that a case was framed against him and his son to stop the latter from appearing in the competitive examination. He named certain other officials who were allegedly involved in the corruption.
Reayat Khan said that such tactics by these judicial officers would ultimately bring a bad name to the institution. He said he could furnish proofs of the alleged wrongdoing if given a chance for hearing. He said that judicial officers should also be held accountable, especially those who had made fortunes. He called for taking note of violation of law for personal vested interests in order to check the wrongdoing.
