Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that the provincial government is making efforts for filling the deficiency of the doctors and paramedics in far-flung areas and a notification for the recruitment of 500 doctors on ad hoc basis would be issued shortly.
He was talking to a representative delegation of the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. President of the college, Professor Zulfikar Chaudhry led the delegation. Secretary Health, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Munir Azam was also present on the occasion.
Other members of the delegation were included vice president, Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Professor Tariq Mehmood Khan, Professor Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, Dr Bushra Bhutta, General Manager (Operations) Rasheed Anis and others.
Welcoming the delegation on visiting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the chief minister said that the provincial government is following the strategy of the further useful and effective utilisation of the available health facilities in the province for the ailing humanity. He said that unfortunately the shortage of doctors and paramedics is felt in our province. Therefore, he said the government has decided the recruitment of 500 doctors on ad hoc basis. Similarly, he said the recruitment of 300 specialist doctors was also under consideration, while Provincial Service Commission has also recommended the recruitment of 100 medical officers.
The chief minister was confident that with the initiating of these measures the deficiency of doctors in health institutions and particularly in far-flung backward areas would be resolved into some extent.
In connections with the promotion of medical education, the chief minister briefed the members of the delegation regarding the establishment of Bacha Khan Medical College and provision of the facilities in Bannu Medical College.
The province, he said is facing the challenges of the terrorism and energy crisis, saying during last years consecutive incidents of terrorism the need of the emergency response relief activities was severely felt. Provincial government established the institute of Rescue 1122, whose services would be extended to other divisional headquarters in different phases.
The members of the delegation appreciated the health facilities and performance of institutions in the province and extended full co-operation in this regard. The delegation extended thanks to provincial government and chief minister for increase in the salaries of the trainee medical officers in the province.
