The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued notice to Ministry for religious affairs for August 15, for not entertaining Hajj applications of 124 pilgrims. The petitioners through their Hajj tour operator Al-Qadar Hajj and Ummra Services submitted that they applied for Hajj complete documents and requirements but Director Hajj did not process their applications.
The petitioner's company through its counsel submitted that it had deposited Rs 3 million in the account of ministry as process fee and filed 135 applications of pilgrims for approval. It also paid Rs 10.5 million to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for tickets of pilgrims but due to the directions of one of the directors the Ministry stopped processing applications.
The petitioner further said that the Ministry had no right to interfere in internal affairs of the company as it had completed all the requirements of the Ministry. The company prayed the court to direct the Ministry to approve the application on merit and as per rulers and regulations.
