IIU holds 'welcome Ramazan' session

International Islamic University (IIU) here on Thursday organised a lecture on "Welcome Ramazan" at its female campus to highlight the significance of the holy month. Professor Dr Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Director General Dawah Academy was the chief guest on the occasion, while Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIU, Professor Qaiserah M. Alvi, Director, Female Campus, IIU and Saadia Tahir, Student Advisor (female) also attended the session.
Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said that Ramazan is not just to arrange Iftari or Iftar gatherings but it is the name of spiritual maturity. "We can achieve success in this world and hereafter by following the guidelines of Quran," he added. Professor Dr Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said, "fasting is according to the spiritual and material needs of Muslim Ummah, to bring Taqwa." He added that it was the month of revelation of the Quran, reading and reciting the whole Quran, offering Tahajjud and Tarawih prayers, Sadaqah and Zakah-ul-Fitr. It was a shield for protection from sins, he added.
