Isolated thunderstorm, rain expected

The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Thursday said that all main rivers including Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. The Tarbela and Mangla dams are at an elevation of 1492.45 feet and 1196.55 feet respectively, which are 57.55 feet and 13.45 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1210.00 feet, said a FFC daily report issued here.
The combined live storage position of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 7.988 MAF as compared to last year's 10.389 MAF, it further said. According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave over north of Afghanistan now lies over North-eastern Afghanistan. Seasonal Low lies over North-western Balochistan and moist current from Arabian Sea is penetrating Punjab upto 5000 feet.
The FFD predicted scattered thunderstorm and rain with isolated heavy falls over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North and North-eastern Punjab including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore and Gujranwala Divisions, besides upper catchments of Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej during the next 24 hours.
Isolated thunderstorm and rain is expected over D.G. Khan Division and North-eastern Balochistan during the same period. Scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is also expected over North and North-eastern Punjab, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next 48 hours.
