Challenging order to restore 46 suspended officials: SHC issues notice to secretary Water & Power, Chairman PC

Sindh High Court Thursday issued notice to Secretary Water and Power Ministry and Chairman Privatisation Commission on Karachi Electric Supply Company management's appeal challenging order to restore 46 suspended officials.
A division bench, comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Muhammad Tasnim, was hearing high court appeal filed by KESC management impleading Secretary Water and Power Ministry and Chairman Privatisation Commission, as respondents. Counsel for KESC management submitted power utility had issued letters for service termination of various employees on April 14, 2011. But, 46 officials challenged job termination in SHC.
He stated on July 28, 2011 a single bench, headed by Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, pronounced verdict earlier reserved by Justice Munib Akhtar, wherein it suspended operation of termination letters. The court had allowed petition of respondent employees, directing KESC management to pay arrears or salaries to them with other emoluments. Counsel contended impugned order passed by single bench was illegal & unconstitutional, having no legal effect. He prayed to set aside impugned order.
