Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Dr Babar Awan Thursday fully supported PML-N vice president Javed Hashmi's proposal to decentralise Punjab with creation of new provinces in the larger public interest. Talking to media persons in Supreme Court Awan said Hashmi's statement is in accordance with the constitution as carving new provinces is not an easy task, but for meeting the constitutional requirements the proposal needs to be examined.
The voice of Sariki speaking people can not be suppressed. Awan further said that new provinces formation is a Constitutional requirement. If new provinces were not required, it would not have been mentioned in the Constitution. While criticising Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab on delivering statements against Saraiki and Pothohari speaking regions Awan said that Punjab Chief Minister needs self-correction, adding that Pothohar is home of one of the ancient civilisation of the world.
He asserted that primeval civilisation of the world is in Taxila whereas Multan used to be the capital of many governments before creation of Pakistan, adding that no one can turn his face from Pothohari and Saraiki civilisation. Awan termed the statement of Shahbaz Sharif as violation of Constitution of Pakistan. Awan said that Mian brothers should change their style of governance. Voice for new provinces can not be suppressed. "Opposition has submitted requisition in Punjab Assembly for early session, therefore, the Speaker should summon meeting as soon as possible", Awan concluded.
