05 Aug, 2011

Citi and the Lahore University of Management Sciences have partnered once again on a Financial Capability and Asset Building Programme for students who are part of LUMS' National Outreach Programme, based on a $35,000 Citi Foundation grant.
As part of this programme students represented from all across Pakistan participated in an intensive workshop including modules on the basics of banking, savings, managing your money, concepts of credit and smart investments amongst other elements of financial capability and asset building. The programme was based on the case-study method so as to provide students with maximum exposure to real-world situations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the partnership, Citi's Head of Global Banking for Lahore, Salman Mian said, 'It is truly inspiring to see so such a diverse range of students from across the nation participating in this programme. Youth and financial education remain a key focal area for Citi's responsible finance efforts. We are hopeful that such a structured programme that provides exposure to hands-on financial situations for university students, will go a long way in improving economic conditions and livelihood opportunities for these extremely talented boys and girls.'
'Citi and LUMS have been longstanding partners and have collaborated extensively to strengthening responsible finance programmes through both education and Microentrepreneurship initiatives in Pakistan. As LUMS celebrates 25 years and Citi completes 50 years in Pakistan this year, we have collaborated once more to provide hands-on trainings through a dedicated case-study based workshop on the 'Basics of Banking' and the concepts of savings, investments, borrower-ethics and credit amongst other vital financial instruments.-PR
