Population Census Organisation: enumerators training to be held from September 7

Population Census Organisation (PCO) Sindh office would start training of enumerators for Census from 7th to 28th September 2011. Well-placed sources told Business Recorder on Friday that proposed changing of schedule of Census, the schedule of training of enumerators has also been changed.
The authorities of PCO have moved a summary to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani with recommendation of holding Census from 30th September to 14th October 2011, instead of previous schedule of 12th to 27th September. Sources claimed that Gilani would approve said summary but the matter would also be discussed in Council of Common Interests (CCI) and final decision would took place in the meeting of CCI where Chief Ministers of all provinces would look into the issue.
According to previous schedule, training of enumerators would have been started in August but now it will be held in September 2011, due to the holy month of Ramadan. In this connection, The PCO Sindh office had already decided that only Government teachers and Lady Health workers (LHWs) would be trained as enumerators to conduct Census process.
The officials of PCO Sindh have finalised matters with officials of Health and Education departments in this regard earlier, sources told. Earlier, more than 20 thousand enumerators from Education, Revenue, Local Government and other departments had taken part in House-counting process, held in April 2011. While, there was no lady enumerator during whole process of house-listing which had created many problems particularly in rural areas of Sindh.
