All past civil, military governments blamed for Karachi's turmoil

Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that Karachi won't be allowed to become another Bangladesh on the wishes of those fighting for their share in extortion. Addressing the Friday congregation at the Mansoora mosque here, he said that the elements demanding troops for the port city at the behest of India and other foreign enemies actually wanted to make the situation still worse and start a separatist movement to fulfil their designs.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that like the present government, all past governments both civil and military were to be blamed for the present turbulence in Karachi because they allowed the cancer to grow. He said the nation fully knew those who introduced target killings and the culture of dead bodies stuffed in gunny bags.
All the patriotic forces must sit down and adopt the path of dialogue to restore peace in Karachi, he added. Opposing army action in the port city, he said, that military operations had always only lead to destruction and chaos. Army operation was already going on in Balochistan but the situation had not improved, he remarked. Similarly, the army operation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was causing destruction of houses and habitations.
Syed Munawar Hasan said, it was surprising that the elements opposing army interference in the past were inviting army action now. These very elements were responsible for the prevailing situation, he said adding that the nation was still suffering the consequences of the army action in East Pakistan. He said the masses loved their armed forces but would like the troops to revert to their motto or Iman, Taqwah and Jehad. He said the US have been defeated in Afghanistan, was begging for talks from the Taliban but our rulers had not learnt from their past failures and were still working on the US dictation.
