The Board of Directors, Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has approved increase in pay and allowances and pension of Pesco employees. The board 60th meeting was held here at Wapda House Peshawar on Friday under its chairman Hassam-ud Din Bangash in chair.
Chief Executive of Pesco Muhammad Wali, Muhammad Tariq, Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, Asmat Nawaz, Nauman Wazir, Ishfaq Hussain, Muhammad Sharif, Chief Engineer Operation Abdul Latif Khan,Chief Engineer Technical Hannan Khan, Deputy General Manager Finance Anwar-ul-Haq Yousaf Zai and Director Public Relations Shaukat Afzal attended the meeting.
The Company Secretary presented comprehensive report about the last meeting and approved all decisions were taken in meeting after detailed discussion Board of Directors with minor amendments.
The Superintending Engineers of all Pesco Circles gave comprehensive presentations on line losses and recovery. The meeting discussed factors behind unachievable targets by the Circles and issued the directives for its achievement. All Circles have been given new targets after a discussion along with a action plan for the year 2011-12.
The meeting decided that all SEs should also give a comprehensive presentation on targets for reduction in line losses and increase in recovery on quarterly basis. The meeting stressed for making the Pesco a profit earning Company to control growing line losses and enhance recovery. The meeting asked for making the company as consumer-friendly by improving its operational activities and provision of services at their doorstep to restore image of company among consumers.
The meeting approved the increase in pay, allowances and pension of Pesco employees as already announced by the government. The meeting also approved holding of BoD meetings on specific dates and also approved O&M budget. BoD hailed the co-ordination between Pesco and provincial govt under which operation cleanup and other routine problems are being resolved.
Pesco CEO Muhammad Wali briefed the BoD in detail the performance of Pesco and assured that further reduction in line losses and increase in recovery is his first priority. He said that steps are being placed to improve the system of power supply in the province. He informed the participants that Pesco is not carrying load shedding during Seher & Iftar timings but the issues of stealing and these kundas cause tripping of feeders are causing break downs and trippings of the system.
