Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for strengthening information department

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said there is need for making improvements to strengthen Information Department as it has played an important role in dealing with natural calamity and war against terrorism.
Talking to US Consul General, Merry Richard on Friday, he said that the provincial Information Department has played an important role in providing information regarding floods and issues of Internally Displaced Person (IDPs).
Secretary Information and Culture, Azmat Hanif Orakzai and Director Information, Shuaibuddin were also present. Richard assured the minister her full support in information and public relations, culture, transport and some other sectors. The minister said that the strengthening of Information Department was the need of the hour. "We highlighted issues in a more effective way through the Information Department to international community," he maintained.
The provincial minister said that they were working on communication strategy to not only launch a local TV channel, but also to develop a network of FM Radio channels in the province in different phases. He maintained that terrorism and militancy were the biggest challenges for the region. Terming the 18th constitutional amendments as major achievement of the coalition government, he said that the provinces would be given power under the constitutional amendment. He said that it was greatest achievement of all the political parties, which will help Pakistan improve economically. About the creation of Hazara Province, he said that it was constitutional and legal right of the people of Hazara Division.
