'Political, administrative steps required to deal with Karachi situation'

Former Inspector General Sindh police Afzal Shigri said on Friday that maintenance of law and order in Karachi is possible by using political and administrative measures. Talking to Radio Pakistan, Shigri said political leaders should not allow the criminal elements to create space in their parties.
He said that Karachi was a mega city with huge population, adding the administrative structure to run such a huge urban sector requires specialised administration with extraordinary resources. He maintained that a multidimensional strategy is required to administer such a huge metropolis but they have treated Karachi like any other division in Sindh. He said that to govern Karachi efficiently a model of any other city like Karachi, which was being run efficiently in any other country, should be kept before as a model.
