Rain forces adjournment of National Assembly session

The National Assembly session on Monday was adjourned soon after recitation from the Holy Quran due to lack of quorum. Many members of the National Assembly could not turn up due to heavy rain in Islamabad. Rainwater entered Parliament House and heavy monsoon showers continued to lash Islamabad.
Chief Whip Sayed Khursheed Shah informed the Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Kareem Kundi that the members are unable to attend the session due to heavy rain and traffic jam in the federal capital. On the request of some other members the deputy speaker adjourned the session to meet again on Tuesday at 1pm. Heavy rain has converted most roads in the capital into canals and routine life came to standstill by gushing rainwater.
All meetings at the Parliament House have been cancelled on Monday as rainwater has entered many committee rooms what to talk of outside premises. With no break in the ongoing heavy showers in the twin cities, authorities have put all rescue agencies on alert to meet emergency situations.
