The famous Niagara Falls has frozen in parts, giving a spectacular view to the tourists. The bitter cold snap sweeping much of the USA, where the wind chill factor has dropped as low as -89°F (a staggering -67°C).
While it made picturesque scenes in such places as Niagara Falls - the collection of three waterfalls which straddle the border between the USA in the state of New York and Canada in the province of Ontario - it brought record cold to some spots.

Although the cold should ease across most of the US after Tuesday, the north-eastern quarter of the country will see a repeat of the current frigid temperatures on Thursday and Friday as another arctic blast hits the area, Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported.
