SU celebrates 65th Independence Day

65th Independence Day of the country was celebrated in a befitting manner with simplicity but zeal and fervour at University of Sindh at Allama I.I. Kazi Jamshoro and other campuses on Sunday.
The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh, Dr Nazir A. Mughal was the chief guest in the national flag hoisting and anthem ceremony held at Hyder Bux Jatoi Pavelin at the main campus.
Speaking on this occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that only repeating the history of the independence is not solution of the issues facing by the country today. He said that we are an independent state but instead of it we are facing extremism, economic, social, cultural issues increasing day by day. While highlighting chapters of the history of Pakistan Movement and struggle of the Muslims for creation of independence state, he said that today we are facing lot of problems, which need to be addressed properly.
He said that the universities are the places of intellectuals producing future leaders and added that we must properly guide the youth for their role in development of the country.
Professor Dr Mughal announced rupees500/- as cash prize each for students of Syed Pannah Ali Shah Model School who presented tableau and national songs. He also handed over Quaid-i-Azam Shield to the winners of quiz competition, national songs competition and English debate competition organised by Baqai University in connection with seventh Quaid-i-Azam Conference. In connection with the Independence Day, flag hoisting and national anthem ceremony was also organised by Dr N.A Baloch Model School, Hyderabad.
With the contribution of teachers school uniform and school shoes were distributed among 40 deserving male and female students.
The Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Parveen Shah, Dean of the Faculty of Education Dr Parveen Munshi, Principal of school Ms Fareeda Shaikh, Chairman IMSA Shafiq Hyder Mousvi and teachers and students attended the function. Pro Vice Chancellors, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Dr Anwar Ali Shah, deans of the faculties, Registrar, Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Directors and chairpersons of the institutes and departments, officers, employees, students of the varsity and model school and large number of people from Jamshoro City attended the celebrations.
Independence Day was also celebrated with zeal and fervour at the Sindh University Campus Mirpurkhas and Sindh University Campus Badin.
