Kashmiris observe Indian Independence Day as Black Day

16 Aug, 2011

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over are observing the Indian Independence Day on Monday as Black Day to convey the message to New Delhi that it has no moral justification to celebrate its Independence Day as long as it continues to deny the Kashmiri people their inalienable right of self-determination.
The day is marked by complete strike in Indian occupied Kashmir, call for which has been given by APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and other pro-liberation leaders, Kashmir Media Service reported. The occupation authorities have put in place stringent restrictions in Srinagar and other towns to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations.
