THE RUPEE: dollar moves both ways

Rates moved both ways on the currency market on Wednesday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee shed 10 paisa against dollar for buying at 86.68 and dropped by seven paisa for selling at 86.70, they said.
The European currency fell 0.2 percent after it failed to test a major resistance area at 1.4470-80, but support was found above its Tuesday's intraday low around $1.4355 and its 100-day moving average. The dollar was available for Indian currency at Rs 45.38, the US currency was trading at 2.9825 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was at 6.3914 in terms of the Chinese yuan.
Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Wednesday: 74.55/74.70 (previous 74.62/74.70) Call Money Rates: 11.00-12.00 percent (previous 9.50-12.00 percent).

According to dealers, the dollar remained under pressure and closed lower at Rs 86.20 and Rs 86.50 against overnight rates Rs 86.35 and Rs 86.60 for buying and selling, respectively.
Similarly, the rupee recovered some losses against pound sterling, which was purchased and sold at Rs 141.50 and Rs 142.20 as compared to Tuesday's Rs 141.00 and Rs 142.80, respectively, dealers said.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 86.00 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling) against same last rates. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 86.00 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 138.30 (buying) and Rs 138.50 (selling) against same overnight values. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 138.30 (buying) and Rs 138.50 (selling).
