A comprehensive phased plan was being chalked out by the AJK government to encourage and promote foreign investment in trade and industrial sectors of the state, official sources said. The sources told newsmen here on Wednesday that AJK government had already chalked out a strategy for early revival of over 80 sick industrial units located in Mirpur and Bhimbher districts besides promoting industrialisation process in both the districts as well as in other parts of the liberated territory.
The sources said, in the light of various proposals, the newly-elected peoples government of AJK had principally decided to encourage and boost foreign investment in trade and industrial sector in AJK, and in this regard, colossal funds had been placed in current year's budget.
The AJK government, the sources continued, had decided to provide all possible facilities and compensation to the intending foreign entrepreneurs in letter and spirit for establishing the industrial concerns in the area. The sources pointed out that bright potential was available for launching investments in hydel power generation, mineral and tourism sector in AJK.
They revealed that an international investment conference was proposed to be held here in near future to materialise the plan. The government had focused to promote industrial activities in Mirpur and Bhimbher districts under the spirit to provide more job opportunities to the unemployed skilled and unskilled persons, they added.
The sources further revealed that a high level committee comprising officials of commerce and industry, electricity, finance and taxation was being formed soon to inquire about the problems of industrialists, adding, the committee would also be responsible to ink and forward proposals to the government for early redressal of the grievances of the business fraternity.
Meanwhile, a high level meeting of the officials of the AJK government here late Tuesday reviewed and discussed in length, with the owners of the Mirpur and Bhimber district-based sick industrial units, the ideas for quick revival of the units, the sources said. The owners of the sick units tabled various proposals in the meeting for the revival of the sick units and assured to resume their functioning soon after the implementation of the plan, they added.
