Power shortfall drops to 2,443 megawatts

The electricity shortfall in the country on Wednesday dropped to 2,443 MW, as the total power generation was recorded as 14,558 MW against the demand of 17,001 MW during the last 24 hours. According to a briefing on daily power generation and load-management position, the hydel generation stood at 5,869 MW, Wapda thermal 2,026 MW, IPPs 6,547 MW and rental 116 MW.
As many as 690 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report further said. Water level at Tarbela and Mangla dams was recorded as 1532.25 feet and 1201.25 feet with water discharge of 100,000 and 13,000 cusecs, respectively. The hydel generation witnessed significantly increase and stood at 5,869 MW owing to increase water inflow in rivers.
