18 Aug, 2011

The Pakistan Medical Association has condemned the Finance Department Punjab for omitting women medical officers, senior women medical officers, senior blood transfusion officers in the notification of the special salary package announced by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The PMA also demanded of the provincial government to take stern action against those officials who were trying to create unrest among the doctors community forcing the doctors to lodge protest. The PMA office-bearers, Dr Izhar Chaudhry, Dr Ashraf Nizami, Dr Tanveer Anwar, Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Kamran Saeed And Dr Salman Kazmi further added that the Punjab chief minister had announced a special salary package in the form of a Health Professional Allowance (HPA) which was 15000 for all cadres of grade 17 doctors and 10,000 for grade 18 and above including the teaching, specialist and general cadre.
They said that the Finance Department officials instead of issuing the notification of the left out categories of doctors of grade 17 were using delaying tactics to create unrest among the doctor's community and were planning to deprive the above mentioned 4000 doctors of the special salary package this month too.
They further said that there was no co-ordination among the Accountant General Office, the Finance Department and the Health Department. The officers in these departments were unable to facilitate the other department and as a result the orders issued by the Punjab chief minister were being violated instead of being implemented. The doctors have appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister and Senior Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa to look into the matter and get it resolved.
